ANNOUNCEMENT– Service givers are urgently needed
The PBIG Board of Trustees has at least 3 open positions that need to be filled as soon as possible. The chair position is open as of January 15 and will now be a position for two co-chairs (3 years GS abstinence requirement). The AM Marathon Liaison position is open (2 years GS abstinence requirements). Please let your groups know that chairs and liaisons do the work of the phone bridge, including marathons. These are things that people take for granted and they will not get done unless eligible service givers step forward.
Old Business:
Topics to be further discussed from September and November. January 14 outcome is Printed in Bold.
- GSRs for a series of meetings (example: daily 5:30 am Meetings – one GSR) – Discussion: Suggestions were made to reference the GSR Tool Kit on the greysheetmeetings.org website, which brought up the question of whether or not the Tool Kit needs revision. Jessica and Donna volunteered to update the GSR Tool Kit. Jessica and Donna recommended no changes to the GSR Tool Kit.
Regarding having 1 GSR per time slot (i.e. All 7 5:30 a.m. meetings) a motion was made, seconded and past for GSRs to go back to the groups with this suggestion for their feedback.
- Meeting Leader Transitions – Discussion: Old leader to new leader suggestions:
–Please use updated Formats.
-Former leaders may politely text new leader with format awareness. Former leaders can go over the current format with the new leader to address current format changes.
-GSRs could check with their meeting leaders to make certain that correct formats are used.
-Suggest to new leaders that they subscribe to Service Matters on the www.greysheet.org website for updates.
– CJ volunteered to update the Meeting Leader Tool Kit.
- Make the announcement portion of the meeting shorter – Announcement presenters are to self-monitor, keeping announcements brief, using the wording “Please check for details on the greysheetmeetings.org and/or the www.greysheet.org website.”
- Recording Marathon Speakers. Tabled from the November meeting- we once again discussed pros and cons of recording the Marathon speakers. Motion was made seconded and past to take this conversation back to the groups for opinions to be presented at our March Intergroup meeting.
New Business:
- A motion was made seconded and past to approve the 2024 PB Intergroup Budget.
- A motion was made seconded and past to elect Joanie G as the A.M. Marathon Coordinator.
- It had been suggested that we have an allotted sign-up period before Marathon Coordinators fill Marathon positions (discussion from Sept., and Nov.) We discussed Concept X: Every service responsibility should be matched by an equal service authority, with the scope of such authority well defined. It was decided that Marathon Coordinators will fill open positions as they see fit as they do now.
- A suggestion has been forwarded to change our format from: We do not mention specific foods by name and we only refer to them using generic terms like sugar, grain, starches and carbohydrates. This suggestion has been tabled until GSRs take this discussion back to their groups for their opinions to be discussed at the March Intergroup meeting.
- Tabled until March the discussion of annual donations and bequest limits per person.
- Debra, our GSAWS Liaison to the Phone Bridge, announced that all GS meetings need to re-register by 2/29/24 on the greysheet.org website. There is a Town Hall meeting on January 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. EST. GSAWS is also having SUS (Start Up Sponsorship) Training February 3rd 9 a.m. EST-registration is required. All details are on the www.greysheet.org website.
Today is Cathy B’s last day to serve as our Chair Person. Before being our Chair Person, she served our Phone Bridge Intergroup in many capacities. We are grateful to have been guided by her willingness to listen, her willingness to help us all and her hard work to keep this Phone Bridge an open door for the recovering compulsive eater. We are grateful for her many years of service to our community. We thank you Cathy.
